Rudiment #21
Flam Accent
The Flam Accent (#21 of the 40 P.A.S. certified essential or standard rudiments) is based on a Single Stroke sticking where we accent the first of every three notes. Then a grace note is added to the accents. This is a hand-to-hand pattern which means it alternates between starting on the Right Hand and the Left Hand.
Often this rudiment is referred to as a 'Flam Triplet', because of the group of three notes starting with a Flam.
