Rudiment Section #35
40 P.A.S. Standard Rudiments
The Single Dragadiddle (#35 of the 40 P.A.S. certified essential or standard rudiments) is a rudiment where we play a Single Paradiddle in 16th notes and we double up the first note to 32nd notes. The first note stays accented while the second one is not acented. This is a hand-to-hand pattern which means it alternates between starting on the Right Hand and the Left Hand.

Notice the permutated Five Stroke Roll sticking in here. If you would start the pattern on the third 16th note (r r or l l) it would be more obvious.
Here is a sprint exercise which combines one Single Dragadiddle with two 8th notes. This allows you to concentrate fully on the preparation for each Single Dragadiddle.
